Teaching is an absolute passion of mine ! I am so excited to work with you and your child throughout the year! It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning and adventures! I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! As I get to know you, I thought I’d tell you a little about myself.
I have lived in Burlington, Ontario for most of my life with my parents and one sister. I have just rescued a blind pug who keeps me busy! He is a one-eyed dog named Frank! I have played competitive sports my whole life including: soccer, basketball, baseball, field hockey and football. I gave up all those sports to pursue competitive cheerleading and did this all throughout my university career.
I have a passion for teaching and it is my mission this year to instill a love for learning in my students. I would like all of my students to become life-long learners like myself by teaching in a way that applies to their likes and interests. I have been teaching for three years but working within the school system for seven years. An inclusive and differentiated classroom is something that I take pride in so I hope you enjoy my learning style!
I worked in a program funded by the government teaching children in Windsor and Detroit, I did this for about two years and absolutely loved it. I then became program coordinator for a cheerleading gym in Oakville and started up a summer camp! When I was in University I volunteered in all the nearby schools and worked in the before and after school programs.
I spent 2015 in Cardiff, Wales teaching grade 6 and 3 while simultaneously travelling Europe and completing my MEd. I was head of the Special Needs department and fell absolutely in love with assisting children with additional needs. I have taught kindergarten, grade 3/4 split, computers to grade 1-8, grade 4, french to SK-1 and now am currently teaching grade 5! I run my own tutoring business which I absolutely love to do! We are The Travelling Tutors- www.thetravellingtutors.com
